Work Break, Grayton Beach Style

Hey there, friends! I’m back, with another work break post! You’re probably getting tired of hearing me say this by now, but I’m still taking summer mini-breaks – usually long weekends, and nearby excursions, while I’m in school – If all goes well,
I will graduate in the spring of 2019, and I hope to take a long trip, soon after. My posts this year have been very “wordy”, so I’m going to keep the narrative short, and let the pictures do the “talking.” 😊
Here is a list of the places I visited, while in Grayton:
My goal was to visit places that have been around a while, and to learn more about the rich history of Grayton Beach. Locals and GB natives, please share your stories (and correct any of my errors!) about these spots, or your favorite GB hangouts/history lessons in the comments below.
Grayton Beach State Park is beautiful beyond words…

We snorkeled out to Turtle Reef, about two football fields from the shore. You’ll definitely want to wear flippers. Lots of people on kayaks and paddle boards,

We made it back safely! Saw some pretty fishies.

Making waves in Phannatiq 😊 Now, let’s head on over to our B&B,

We enjoyed our stay at Hibiscus Bed & Breakfast!

There are several buildings on property, and the kitchen is a converted barn, dating back to 1904 (I think?), check out the coffee box grinders, with cranks!

Breakfast!

This is my “I’m going to sit here all day, drink tea & coffee, & stare out the window/people watch” face!

Florida-Panalia 😉 I don’t know how to date the wall hangings, maybe someone else does?

My favorite part of Hibiscus is all of the little surprises scattered throughout the property. I love this rustic table & chair set.

A tea cup to greet you, on the way to the café.

Hibiscus is home to a garden and performance venue, sheltered by towering Magnolias & Pines.

Backyard of Love!

Which way do we go? Next stop, Hurricane!

Framed!

Watch where you step 😉

Fish Tacos and Jambalaya-Very Tasty!

Taking a break outside of Hurricane, next to several art galleries, and shops. Next up, bikes!

And, they are everywhere on 30A! Just a short walk from here is…

Nicole Paloma’s shop. I stumbled upon this, and what a wonderful surprise. Anyone know the history of this home?

Crushing the design world, I had no idea,

Gorgeous!!

“The vision behind the work is about the gratitude for our darkness, not the happily ever after, because without it, we would not be able to see and be the light that shines through in our darkest moments.” – Love this quote from web site.

Well, that made me hungry! It’s not a matter of if you should visit The Red Bar, but when. It has stood the test of time, and tourism.

Best Shrimp & Grits I’ve ever had. The brown butter sauce is beyond…

Leave only Footprints…Thank you for reading!

Just another reason to love Nicole – Her love_sewn initiative is so inspiring.
Thank you, Nicole, I hope this is a post that you can be proud of.
Though 30A is exploding with growth, Grayton Beach has managed to maintain its eclectic charm. I’m hoping it stays that way! I hope this post has brought some sunshine to your day. Please share your favorite beachy spot, or weekend getaway, in the comments below.
